Races

Lydia, Michael, Rebecca and I were in Austin, TX for the inaugural F1 race at a new, purpose built track and facility for F1 in the US. We had three days of great weather and saw all of the action on track. A bonus was touring the Lotus F1 garage which was an incredible experience!

April 2012 found us in Dallas for the weekend with Mike and Rebecca. As luck would have it (or not!), it was a NASCAR race weekend and my brother has tickets to all of the races at the Texas Motor Speedway. It was a fun event and nice to see Mike and Rebecca.

Lydia and I went to the 2011 Coke Zero 400 NASCAR race at Daytona International Speedway. This was the first NASCAR race we've ever gone to, and it was interesting for a couple reasons. The cars are VERY fast but they were running around the track in pairs - it looked like lovebugs racing.

My brother and I went to the Rolex 24 endurance race at Daytona International Raceway in January 2009. We got to enjoy the race from the Brighthouse Networks suite again courtesy of my neighbor, Michel.

Buddy was back in town for the weekend from his work on Horsepower TV. His family, Patrick, Lydia and I went to the Rolex 24 endurance race at Daytona International Raceway in January 2008. My brother, Mike, couldn't join us this year as he was in London on business. We got to enjoy the race from the Brighthouse Networks box courtesy of my neighbor, Michel.

Mike and my family headed back to Indianapolis for the 2007 Formula One US Grand Prix race. We had skipped the prior year due to scheduling challenges. It was a good weekend, although VERY hot. Race results weren't what I was hoping for, but Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari did win the driver's and constructor's championships at the last race in Brazil.

Mike, Patrick and some friends of Patrick's went to the Rolex 24 endurance race at Daytona International Raceway in January 2007. We got to enjoy the race from the Brighthouse Networks box courtesy of my neighbor, Michel.

Mike came out with Lydia and I to the Rolex 24 endurance race at Daytona. My neighbor, Michel, gave us tickets for his company's hospitality suite which overlooked pit lane, right by the start/finish line. We saw 14 hours of the race, but went home to sleep Saturday night.

My family, my parents and my brother were at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the weekend of June 16-19 for the 2005 US Grand Prix Formula One race. Michelin failed to compensate for the extreme conditions of turn 13, resulting in 14 of the 20 cars not even running the race. So, the race itself was a bust, but we still saw some great cars.

My family, my brother and my dad were at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the weekend of June 18-20 for the 2004 US Grand Prix Formula One race. It was INCREDIBLE ... we had a great time, saw some incredible F1 cars up close, watched a great race and also got some autographs. Can't wait 'til next year!
